In brief: Three dead after domestic incident

TWO adults and a child have died following an incident at a house in Leicestershire, UK.

Police said they received a report that a 15-year-old girl had been injured. Officers forced their way into a house where they discovered two children and two adults with injuries. A man, a woman and a child later died and two other children are in serious condition in hospital.

'Lucky ashes' stolen at bingo

A WOMAN who took her mother's ashes to bingo for good luck is hoping for their return after the urn containing them was stolen.

The container was taken from Diane Bozzi's van in Rochester, New Hampshire, US, by someone targeting unlocked cars.

Famous Hanging Tree collapses

Zimbabwe's infamous colonial-era Hanging Tree crashed on to the street after it was hit by a workers' truck during road repairs. Leaders of the first uprising against white settlers were said to have been hanged from the tree in 1898.

When the 200-year-old Msasa tree -- a national monument -- fell, some workers fled, believing it a bad omen. Crowds gathered to take pieces of the tree.

Bet's back to hit career high note

JULIE Goodyear is to return once more to her role as brassy Bet Lynch in a ' Coronation Street' musical. She will join cast members past and present in the arena show, which will also see a comeback for Curly Watts, who will be revived by actor Kevin Kennedy.

TV presenter Paul O'Grady will also star in 'Street Of Dreams', which will make its premiere in Manchester, UK, in March. Tickets go on sale on Friday.

'X-Factor' duets planned for final

THE 'X Factor' finalists look set to team up with their mentors as the series reaches its climax this weekend.

Judges Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow are to perform with Marcus Collins, Little Mix and Amelia Lily during Saturday's edition of the programme, according to reports.

Man cut off arm with guillotine

POLICE in Bellingham, Washington State, US, say doctors were unable to re-attach the right arm of a man who severed his limb with a homemade guillotine.

Police say the 32-year-old man was in a stable condition after hospital treatment and was held for a mental evaluation.
