IMF raises doubts over Greece deal

Hopes for a deal resolving Greece's debt crisis have been cast into doubt after a spokesman for the International Monetary Fund said no progress has been made.

Gerry Rice told reporters "we are well away from an agreement".

He added: "There are major differences between us in most key areas. There has been no progress in narrowing these differences recently."

The tone of his comments contrasted with more upbeat reactions in Europe, where officials indicated a deal could be reached in coming days.
