Granny on pill expecting baby

A GRANDMOTHER has described her shock at finding out she was pregnant again at the age of 53.

Despite taking the contraceptive pill, Debbie Hughes, from Daventry, Northamptonshire, found out she was expecting a baby when she began putting on weight.

AN embarrassing misspelling of the word 'school' is gone from the street outside a New York City school building.

Workers used heavy machinery to ground up the wrongly placed letters H and C in the SHCOOL sign following a construction blunder. The words were created with industrial "textured tape" and the mistake had apparently been there since July 2010.

SWISS police are hunting thieves who used a stolen snowboard to make off with a heavy safe from a youth hostel in a ski resort.

The raiders broke into the building in Valbella, in south-eastern Switzerland, and took the 220lb (100kg) safe with cash and cheques. A snowboard was missing and police believe it was used to spirit away the safe.

THIEVES are hoping to be left flush with cash after raids on toilets at restaurants and offices in Columbus, Ohio.

It is thought the automatic flushers are being stolen for scrap because they contain a sought-after metal called red brass, which can fetch up to $2.50 per pound (€1.90).
