Five people have been charged over the 1978 Lufthansa robbery at New York's Kennedy International Airport, a notorious heist featured in the Martin Scorsese film Goodfellas.
The five defendants in the federal racketeering indictment named today include Vincent Asaro, of Howard Beach in Queens, an alleged captain in the Bonanno crime family.
The heist was one of the largest cash thefts in American history.
Hooded gunmen invaded the airline's cargo terminal and stole about five million US dollars in untraceable currency being returned to the United States from Germany.
The cash was never found. Authorities say jewellery worth about one million dollars was also taken.
In June, FBI investigators descended on a Queens district where it's believed the robbery was planned.
