Walkout disrupts flights across EU
THE travel plans of thousands of airline passengers face disruption today because of yet another strike by French public sector workers over plans to raise the retirement age.
The walkout by French air traffic controllers is expected to hit flights across Europe.
The strike kicked in at 6pm last night and is expected to continue until 6am tomorrow.
A spokesman for Ryanair said about 200 flights would be cancelled across Europe. Ryanair flights out of Dublin today to Nice, Paris Beauvais, Rodez and Tours are cancelled, along with the return trips. The Shannon-Nantes flight and the return are also cancelled.
A furious Ryanair chief Michael O'Leary said: "The European Commission and parliament keep banging on about passenger rights during flight delays, when in reality most of this summer's flight delays have been caused by European governments' abject failure to manage their air-traffic services."
