A crowd greeting Russian president Dmitry Medvedev had a narrow escape after he stepped out of his SUV and then frantically tried to hold the vehicle back as it kept rolling towards the group of people.
In the video posted online, bodyguards quickly come to his aid and managed to stop the car, a big black Mercedes, before it crashed into a gasping crowd last weekend in the city of Kazan.
Nobody was reported hurt, but the gaffe drew some comments on twitter and has been watched by 80,000 people on Youtube.
The Kremlin declined to comment on the incident, and it was unclear exactly what caused it.
State media has made no mention of the incident and the Youtube video was posted yesterday.
