University librarian gets the sack after Oxford version of ‘Harlem Shake’ goes viral

AN Oxford University librarian has been sacked and a number of students fined after a recording of them doing the ‘Harlem Shake’ appeared on YouTube.

In the video, around 30 students are seen apparently studying in the quiet surroundings of St Hilda’s College library while a student wearing an American football helmet dances around.

Another wore a horse’s head while others were dressed in aisles and on tables.

The video sparked concern amongst senior staff at the 120-year-old Oxford University College.
