A trial in Italy had to be suspended after the judge and jury spotted a pair of court employees having sex in an adjoining room, behind a frosted glass window.

The couple were in a small room adjoining the gallery of the courtroom in Genoa and clearly thought they could not be seen.

But at one point during the hearing, the judge cast his gaze upwards and noticed their silhouettes, visible behind the frosted glass.

Their discovery caused a commotion in court and forced a suspension of the trial of a Romanian man accused of murdering a 40-year-old Moroccan homeless immigrant in gardens next to a railway station last year.

The couple, one of whom was thought to be married, may be subjected to disciplinary measures. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
