Threat to 'out' him forced Tory MP to admit he is gay
Tory Nigel Evans yesterday revealed that he decided to publicly admit he is gay after a Labour MP had threatened to "out" him.
The MP for Ribble Valley would not name the MP concerned but said he wanted to help end such "nastiness".
"I could not afford it to be used as leverage against me," he said. Mr Evans is a vice-president of the ParliOut initiative, the first support group for gay politicians, their staff and other parliamentary workers, which will be launched today.
