Pigs on a farm in Russia have a group of heroic firefighters to thank for saving their bacon from a raging fire.

The emergency workers were called to the inferno at private farm in Chernaya Rechka village, near Tomsk city.

The young pigs are being bred for slaughter, but there were all smiles as the firefighters carried most of them to safety, according to the Siberian Times.

The Russian Emergency Ministry released video on January 22 showing the daring rescue.

According to the ministry, when the fire started on January 20, up to 200 pigs were in the farm. At least 150 of them were saved.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. It covered an area of 700 square metres.
