Suspects in lay preacher killing released on bail

Two men who were arrested on suspicion of the murder of Alan Greaves (pictured), who died after being attacked on his way to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, have been released on bail, South Yorkshire Police said.

The men, one in his 20s and the other in his 40s, were arrested after the lay preacher and church organist died from severe head injuries.

Mr Greaves's widow Maureen said she had wept over the "evil that has been done" as she spoke to the congregation of St Saviour's Church in High Green, Sheffield. She also said she had felt their love and support.
