THERE couldn't have been a happier ending to 2012 for designer Stella McCartney, who was named both Designer and Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards last night.
Both gongs come in recognition of her thriving label, which has seen international success this year in new store openings and soaring profits, as well as on the red carpet.
A-listers such as Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek and Nicole Kidman have all chosen McCartney's dresses, as did Team GB at the Olympics for whom McCartney created a national kit.
Fashion and sports fans alike agreed she had done a great job with her deconstructed Union Jack prints.
A total of 14 awards were handed out during the event.
