Two sons of former high-ranking military leaders in Argentina have been arrested in Spain after police allegedly found a tonne of cocaine on board a medical transport aircraft.
The two, both pilots, were named as Gustavo Julia, main shareholder in the firm Medical Jet, and co-pilot Gaston Miret.
Mr Julia is the son of retired Brigadier Jose Julia, who was head of Argentina's air force from 1989 to 1993, when Carlos Menem was president. Mr Miret is the son of Brigadier Jose Miret, another official in the former military dictatorship.
Police arrested the men after the jet landed at Barcelona's El Prat airport. The aircraft, used for private medical transfers, arrived on Sunday from the Cape Verde Islands, 350 miles off the West African coast. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
