Seventh man faces slavery charges on travellers’ site

A seventh person has been charged with slavery offences following a police raid at a travellers' site.

Tommy Connors Senior, 51, has been charged with 11 offences of conspiracy to place people in servitude or false labour, a spokeswoman for Bedfordshire Police said.



He was remanded in custody overnight and will appear at Luton Magistrates' Court today.



The charges relate to alleged victims who were removed from the Greenacres travellers' site in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, following a police raid on September 11.



The charges were brought under Section 71 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, which came into force last year.
