A Canary Islands government statement said the body of a middle-aged woman was discovered shortly before 5am local time on Friday.

Another woman was found dead on Thursday, hours after the collapse of the building in a built-up central area of the popular southern coastal town of Los Cristianos.

Three other people were injured in the incident.

It was not known how many people were in the building when it collapsed.

Witnesses told Spanish media the building had been undergoing renovations.
