Five school children have been treated by paramedics after a coach en route to Alton Towers crashed into a central reservation.

Derbyshire Police said the children were not seriously injured but the driver of the coach, who is thought to have been taken ill at the wheel, was taken to Sheffield's Northern General Hospital.

Witnesses are being sought to the accident, which happened at about 9am on Thursday on the A6135 at Renishaw, near junction 30 of the M1.

The coach was one of three travelling in convoy to Alton Towers from the Scunthorpe area.
