Ronnie Barker's fugitive son behind bars on child porn charges

The son of late comedy actor Ronnie Barker was in custody facing a child pornography trial last night after eight years on the run.

Adam Barker (44), the youngest son of the Two Ronnies star, handed himself in at a west London police station yesterday morning.

He later appeared in court accused of five counts of making indecent images of children, two in the highest category of seriousness.

Mr Barker, also an actor, was bailed following his arrest in June 2003 when a computer seized from his home allegedly contained thousands of indecent images.

He did not answer bail the following year and was believed to have gone abroad.

He failed to return to England and attend either his father's funeral in 2005 or his mother's last year.

His acting credits include appearances as a detective in episodes of the police drama 'Wycliffe' over two years.

He also featured in the BBC programmes 'Casualty' and 'Monarch Of The Glen'.

The younger of two brothers, he had a minor role in the James Bond movie 'Tomorrow Never Dies' in 1997.

Mr Barker, of no fixed address, appeared before Uxbridge magistrates.

He was remanded in custody to appear for a committal hearing on August 21. (© Independent News Service)
