Prince Albert ducks out after cold festive swim
THERE were no prizes for guessing which half of the Principality of Monaco's royal couple was a former Olympic swimmer yesterday.
The sea temperature was 5C so this time, perhaps unsurprisingly, it was Prince Albert II (left) and not his South African wife who was wearing the togs for the traditional Christmas swim in Monaco.
Prince Albert was not inclined to demonstrate his own swimming prowess for long, he was out of the water with just enough time to keep tradition and dignity intact.
On the same day that the prince took the festive plunge, his wife Princess Charlene was honoured with a 'Golden Heart' award during the "Ein Herz fuer Kinder" (A Heart for Children) TV charity telethon in Berlin.
