DETECTIVES investigating the mystery death of a three-year-old girl have released new CCTV footage to find out what happened to her.

Mariam Alam died in hospital after collapsing at her aunt's house in Fisher Road, Foleshill, Coventry, in November last year.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died from head injuries.

Four people were arrested and later bailed in January and March but no one has been charged over the little girl's death.

West Midlands Police have released CCTV footage today showing Mariam, wearing a flowery dress and pink coat, walking into a nearby supermarket with her mother on the day she sustained her injuries.

The footage shows Mariam leaving the supermarket five minutes later but, at 1.20pm, the ambulance service received a 999 call saying she had collapsed at her aunt's home.

Police are also appealing again for an anonymous male caller who contacted officers with key information on January 9 to get back in touch.

Detective Inspector Chris Hanson said vital questions remain unanswered over Mariam's death, more than a year on.

"Someone out there knows what happened to Mariam and I'm convinced answers lie in the local community," he said.
