A MOTHER caught with cocaine bought it for her daughter’s birthday so they could have ‘a good time’ together, a court heard.
Nicola Austen (37) booked a limo ride for her daughter to London as part of her birthday celebrations, The Telegraph reports.
She bought 12 packets of cocaine to take on the trip, however they were discovered by police after they raided her home with sniffer dogs.
5.65g of cocaine with a purity of 87pc was discovered.
She has six previous convictions – one of which was possession of amphetamine in 2010.
Prosecutor Craig Evans told Maidstone Crown Court: "They were going to London in a limousine and she wanted to make sure they had a good time."
However she was spared jail time as the court was told it would have an adverse effect on a young boy in the family; as well as Austen’s grandmother for whom she provides respite care.
She was given a nine month suspended sentence, and ordered to complete 250 hours community service.
