A millionaire who tried to burn down his ex-girlfriend's flat was yesterday jailed for seven years in England.
Christopher Graham, of Heaton, Newcastle, pushed a lit firework through the letterbox of Andrea Davis's home after becoming convinced she was having an affair.
The 36-year-old hit the jackpot seven years ago when his stepfather won £14m (€16.9m) on the Lotto and gave him and his sister £1m (€1.2m) each.
Since then, Graham, who was serving a three-and-a-half year sentence for dealing ecstasy when his stepfather Bob Frazer scooped the huge win, has squandered much of the cash on drugs.
It was while on bail that Graham attempted to burn down his ex-partner's flat during the early hours of April 12 this year.
Fortunately Ms Davis, who lives with her 17-year-old daughter and the six-year-old daughter she had with Graham, was awake and was able to quickly extinguish the flames.
At Newcastle Crown Court, the judge jailed Graham for seven years -- six for arson and a consecutive year's custody for several drug offences.
