The oldest McDonald's employee in Europe is celebrating his 90th birthday with a party at the restaurant where he works, saying he has no plans to retire just yet.
Great grandfather and Second World War veteran Bill Dudley, from Connah's Quay in North Wales, joined the fast food giant's Mold, Flintshire, restaurant as a part-time member of the customer care team nine years ago after he grew "bored" pottering around the house.
Mr Dudley said his wife, who calls him 'Old McDonald', refused to let him help with the gardening after he retired from his job as a crane driver - so he applied for a job at his local restaurant.
He said: "I was bored pottering around the house and my wife wouldn't let me help out with the gardening, so applied for a job at McDonald's and I haven't looked back.
"I served in the navy during World War 2 and worked as a train driver before becoming a taxi driver.
"Despite being in employment since the age of 12, I still love coming to work. The camaraderie is fantastic and I'm really lucky to be surrounded by a great team who are like my family."
The restaurant's franchisee, Stewart Williams, said: "Bill is an incredibly valued member of the team and our regular customers and crew members alike are all incredibly fond of him.
"He's fantastic with people and I admire his constant enthusiasm to do the job that he loves.
"We are all incredibly proud to work alongside him as he's such an inspiring member of the team. I look forward to celebrating his birthday again next year."
The restaurant is hosting celebrations throughout today.
