John McCririck, the well-known betting pundit, was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital by ambulance after feeling unwell at the races.
McCririck (72), who is taking Channel 4 to an employment tribunal after he claimed his sacking was ageist, was expected to stay in for the night for precautionary tests and to be kept under observation. His wife, Jenny, said: "It's all to do with the stress."
McCririck is as famous for his attire, whiskers and sexist comments as he is for his knowledge of betting and tic-tac, the now virtually dead means of communication in the betting ring.
