Manchester sisters, who went missing overnight, found safe and well
Liana Boyd, 11, and her eight-year-old sister Teigan Boyd, who went missing after they went out to play last night, have been found safe and well, Greater Manchester Police said today
Fears had been mounting for the safety of Liana and her year-old sister after they went missing from Whitworth Park, where they had been playing about 8pm on Sunday night.
A short time later their mother, who has not been named, went to the park in the city’s south-east, but was unable to find them.
Authorities were becoming increasingly worried about the pair, who have not gone missing before. The family was said to be “fraught with worry”.
The park, located outside their home in Fallowfield, was filled with local children who were taking advantage of the fine weather. It is close to Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Greater Manchester Police were swiftly called and a huge search was launched as officers "pulled out all the stops to find them safe and well".
On Monday a team of detectives were at the family home interviewing the family.
“It was a routine thing for them to do, the park was literally on their doorstep and there would have been lots of children out there taking advantage of the good weather,” one source said.
