Man jailed for killing his girlfriend with plastic bag
A MAN who killed his girlfriend by putting a plastic bag over her head was jailed for 10 years yesterday.
The body of Beata Slomiana (33) lay undiscovered for 10 days at her home in Ballards Lane, Finchley, north London.
The day after she was found in September last year, her boyfriend Asaad Abdel-All (32) admitted himself into a psychiatric hospital, the court heard.
Crispin Aylett QC, prosecuting, said Abdel-All admitted suffocating her and said he thought she had been poisoning him. Abdel-All, a former assistant school caretaker, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. He was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia at the time and was off his medication.
Judge Peter Beaumont told the defendant: "Your responsibility is lessened, it is not extinguished, by your mental illness."
