A man has been jailed for 21 years after attacking two ex-girlfriends he thought were cheating on him.
Nathaniel Hamilton, 31, of Acacia Avenue, Walsall, grabbed one of his victims around the throat and strangled her until she lost consciousness in an attack last November, according to West Midlands Police.
He was found guilty of attempted murder, rape and assault at Birmingham Crown Court.
Sergeant Alisha Reavley, from West Midlands Police's Public Protection Unit, said: "The force that Hamilton used could easily have killed his victim. In fact if a neighbour hadn't intervened the outcome could have been far more tragic.
"The degree of injury caused was so severe that bruising on her neck could be matched to the trainers that Hamilton wore.
"This was the last straw for this young girl who had suffered months of abuse from Hamilton."
The court also heard another victim was lured into his home where he threatened her with what was said to be a sawn off shotgun last July, which was taken into account during sentencing on Friday July 20.
