Man dies after setting himself on fire outside royal palace

A Man has died after setting himself on fire outside Kensington Palace, London, in the early hours of yesterday.

The man was discovered alight at around 3am by police. He was pronounced dead at 3.42am, despite efforts to save him by the London Ambulance Service.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious. A spokesman for the Met Police said officers were called by a London hospital after midnight on Tuesday after a man in its care had failed to return. Police are in the process of informing the man's family.

A spokesman for the royal family said Prince William and his wife Kate were not in the palace, their London home, yesterday.
