A man has been jailed for three years after killing a friend who asked to be punched in the face, police said.
West Midlands Police said Patrick Ryan, 25, hit 42-year-old Phillip Evans while the pair were drinking, after Evans claimed he had never been knocked out before.
Paramedics were called to the scene in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, in the early hours of October 11 last year, but Evans could not be revived.
West Midlands Police said Ryan, of Blackwood Avenue, Wednesfield, was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court to three years in jail after pleading guilty to manslaughter at an earlier hearing.
Speaking after the sentencing on Tuesday, Detective Inspector Martin Slevin, from Force CID, said: "Mr Evans had been a happy family man until working night shifts affected his sleeping pattern and he took to drink to relax, which resulted in him losing his family and spiralling into alcoholism.
"He lost his life tragically and his neighbour and friend is now serving time for his death and will have to live with the consequences of their brutal pastime for the rest of his life."
