A MAN who was raising funds for charity by dancing across Britain has had his quest suddenly ended – after he was hit by a car.

Tutu wearing Ben Hammond has been twirling, skipping and jiving his way from John O’Groats to Land’s end to raise awareness of oppression in Burma.

However, he has been recovering in hospital since Wednesday night after he and one of his supporters were hit by a suspected drink-driver.

Hammond suffered some minor cuts and bruises and was kept in hospital overnight as a precaution, although he is expected to be discharged shortly.

The 34 year old teacher, who set off on his challenge on August 13, is expected to continue his challenge on his release from hospital.

He set up his charity ‘LearnBurma’ after a stint teaching at a refugee camp on the Thai/Burmese border.

His charity dance challenge is raising money for Amnesty International, Burma Campaign UK, Partners Relief and Development and Prospects Burma.
