Ignorant consumers think pigs really can fly
AN alarming 17pc of adults think pigs can fly. Or rather, their knowledge of butchery is so poor that they believe pork wings exist as a cut of meat.
According to a new survey, many consumers are ignorant when it comes to butchers. Not only did some think that pig wings existed, almost two in 10 thought tofu ribs were a cut of meat. Ed Beddington, the editor of Meat Trades Journal, which organises the survey, said: "The idea of flying bacon might seem appealing, but it's frightening how limited consumer knowledge on meat is."
Two in five of those surveyed said there was no butcher near their homes, while 41pc said they found their local butcher too expensive. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
