Havel laid to rest in Prague cemetery plot

VACLAV Havel's ashes have been buried at his family plot at a cemetery in the Czech capital of Prague.

His widow Dagmar, brother Ivan and other family members and friends attended a private ceremony at Vinohrady cemetery - exactly 15 years after the couple married.

The urn was placed to rest alongside his first wife, Olga, who died in 1996.

Mr Havel was the dissident playwright who led the 1989 revolution that toppled four decades of communist rule before becoming the country's president. He died on December 18 aged 75.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Prime Minister David Cameron were among the world leaders who attended Mr Havel's state funeral on December 23.
