A commuter has been stabbed on a bus after remonstrating with passengers abusing a pregnant woman and a pensioner.
The 32-year-old man was knifed in the stomach and leg after stepping in to help the two women as they travelled through east London.
Detectives launched a hunt for three suspects - aged between 16 and 20 - who fled the bus after the attack.
The victim was attacked on a route 488 bus between Dalston and Bromley-by-Bow on Wednesday last week.
"The 32-year-old male victim had remonstrated with a group of three people who had been uncooperative and abusive towards fellow passengers, including a pregnant woman and an elderly lady," Scotland Yard said.
"The victim was taken by London Ambulance Service to the Royal London Hospital suffering stab injuries to his stomach and leg. He has since been discharged."
Officers are searching for a black male, approximately 6ft tall with skinny build, a white man, approximately 5ft 10ins tall with stocky build, and a white woman, approximately 5ft 3ins tall, with chunky build.
