Four girls aged between 13 and 15 charged
A 13-year-old girl was left with cigarette burns to her face, a broken nose and possible cheek fracture after an alleged assault in Derbyshire.
Four girls aged between 13 and 15 have been charged with assault and affray after the incident on May 2 in Belper and will appear at Derby Youth Court later this month, Derbyshire Police said.
A fifth girl, aged 13, who is also alleged to have taken part in the attack will be dealt with by the Youth Offending Team.
Officer said two girls were walking along Chapel Street, in Belper, when they were approached by a group of girls who they knew.
The group allegedly began to attack the victim, pulling her hair, punching and kicking her.
She managed to run away to Derwent Street but says the girls followed her and continued the assault, stubbing cigarettes out on her face.
