Former Miss Austria dies after falling off the side of mountain while jogging
A former Miss Austria died after falling 100 feet while out running in the Alps, it has emerged.
Ena Kadic (26) was found on Friday afternoon 30 metres below an observation deck on her usual jogging route near her home town of Tirol, police said.
The 26-year-old was rushed to hospital after falling 30 metres, suffering serious head trauma and injuries to her lung as well as to her pelvis.
An investigation is now underway to explain to how Ms Kadic could have fallen to her death on a path she regularly jogged on and knew so well.
It was the former beauty queen herself who first raised the alarm.
She was able to telephone her brother to say she had fallen but was unable to say where she was.
Shortly afterwards she appears to have lost consciousness, Austrian officials said.
Her mother went out to look for her and with the aid of two students found her laying more than 100 feet beneath the viewing platform at the Drachenfelsen, or Dragon’s Rock, overlooking the Sill river.
She was winched to safety and flown to hospital by air ambulance before passing away.
“We don’t know exactly where she fell from,” Kontrollinspektor Stefan Eder, a spokesman for the Tyrol police said.
“She could have fallen from the viewing platform or she could have fallen from the mountainside.”
“There are no indications of foul play or that this was a suicide attempt,” Kontrollinspektor Eder added.
“At the moment we think it was an accident, but we have to carry out further investigations.”
Ms Kadic was born in Bosnia but grew up in Austria.
She was crowned Miss Austria in 2013 and represented the country in that year’s Miss World competition.
