A plane was met by emergency services on its arrival to Heathrow this morning as up to sixty children on board became ill during the journey from Cape Town, South Africa.

The London Ambulance Service treated sixty children at the scene and eleven children were taken to hospital.

The children, aged between 10 and 14, were returning from a performance as part of a Welsh choir when they began to suffer vomiting and diarrhoea on board the aircraft, BBC reports.

The London Ambulance Service tweeted; “Our medics checked over 60 children and took 11 to hospital after they were taken unwell on a flight to Heathrow this morning.”

Emergency services spent almost two hours at the scene treating the children.
