Down at heel for driving is shoe-in

New shoe for women drivers
Friday June 15 2007
A NEW type of driving shoe for women that will not compromise their sense of style was launched yesterday.
Sheilas' Wheels has developed the 'Sheila Driving Heel' (pictured above), a safe, flat driving shoe and a glamorous pair of heels in one - all interchangeable at a push of a button.
According to new research, female drivers are putting themselves and other drivers at risk by wearing the wrong footwear when driving. The 'Safe Shoes' report, commissioned by from Sheilas' Wheels, the car insurer for women, shows that 78pc of female drivers in Britain wear inappropriate footwear when driving.
Two-fifths of those surveyed confessed to wearing flip-flops, while 19pc claimed they had worn no shoes at all when driving, which experts say can be extremely hazardous and is illegal in some parts of the UK.
