Convicted murderer escapes from prison in London
A CONVICTED murderer, one of Britain’s longest serving prisoners, was last night on the run after escaping from jail.
John Massey, 64, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a bouncer at a pub in Hackney, East London in 1975.
After being granted parole, he has already breached the terms twice; flouting his bail hostel curfew to visit his terminally ill father in 2007 and absconding from open prison to see his dying sister in 2010.
Now classed as a “potentially dangerous” category B prisoner, police have warned he should not be approached after escaping from Pentonville Prison in Islington, North London at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.
