Coalition at war after UK election

THE fallout from a disastrous election performance by the Liberal Democrats threatened to undermine Britain's coalition government yesterday.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg threw down the gauntlet to Prime Minister David Cameron last night, warning that unless there were "substantial, significant changes'' on key health reforms, he will tell Liberal Democrat MPs and peers to vote them down.
The ultimatum came as Mr Clegg set out his plans to be more assertive within government in response to his party's election drubbing.
Meanwhile, Labour leader Ed Miliband issued a plea to Lib Dems to jump ship and join him in opposing the Conservatives. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
