A dog found herself in a precarious position after she got stuck in her owner's electric reclining armchair.

Little Cagney - a seven-year-old female Lhasa Apso - was stuck for an hour with only her legs visible before being rescued by firefighters.

Cagney's owner, Lyn Kirkwood, said she only realised her pet had gone missing after noticing that she had failed to bark when her husband's carer arrived.

After searching the rooms in her home in Salford, Greater Manchester, she saw Cagney's legs sticking out from the furniture.

She said: "It was horrendous. My husband's carer came and (Cagney) usually barks, but she was quiet.

"I looked in all the rooms and couldn't find her anywhere, then I heard a whimper and we found her.

"We had three firefighters with tools trying to get her out. When they freed her she just walked off as if nothing had happened."

Cagney has since made a full recovery.
