Young girl (12) dies after being found 'unresponsive' at holiday caravan park

A 12-year-old girl has died in hospital after she was found unresponsive at a Lancashire holiday park.

Emergency services were called to Cala Gran Holiday Park in Fleetwood on Monday night.

The youngster was rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but died a short time later.

Her death is currently being treated as "unexplained".

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called around 9.40pm on Monday July 18 to Cala Gran Holiday Park in Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood.

"The ambulance service contacted police after a 12-year-old girl was found unresponsive at the scene by paramedics.

"The girl was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment but sadly died a short time later.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are continuing."

A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

A spokesman for Cala Gran Holiday Park said: "Emergency services were called to the park on Monday evening to tend to a 12-year-old female guest who later passed away.

"This is a tragic incident and our heartfelt condolences go to the girl's family who we have offered our support to."
