Six injured following explosion at terraced house in early hours

Six people have been injured following an explosion at a terraced house in Greater Manchester during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

One person suffered major burns and five others suffered minor injuries in the incident, which left the property in Curzon Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, collapsed at both the front and back.

The blast happened at around 5am.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the terraced property and described how the explosion had caused the property to collapse at the front and back.

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed that they were called to the scene at 5.07am and sent a "large resource team" to the scene.

The spokeswoman said: "There were six patients in total, five have minor injuries and one has major burns."

She confirmed that one patient was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary, another to Wythenshawe Hospital and others to Tameside Hospital.
