Leslie Constable has been sentenced to life in prison, but can be considered for parole in nine years and 300 days, according to a statement by the Suffolk police. He pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced today.

The ten charges of rape and assault and three charges of creating indecent images  date back from the 1970’s to 2009.

The investigation began in 2015 when indecent images were discovered on his phone. Six victims came forward during the course of the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Bridger said “The victims should be praised for their courage in finding their voices to talk about what had happened when they were younger, resulting in the full extent of the abuse coming to light. The sentence given today reflects the serious nature of the crimes, and again shows that those who have been subject to such abuse can get justice many years after the original offences were committed."
