'Luxury room' advertised online 'looks like a prison cell'

An online listing for a small room in central London has drawn mockery for describing the space - which looks barely big enough to stand up in - as "luxury" and "big and bright".

A prospective renter posted a picture of the £140-a-week (€161) room in Canada Water on Reddit, writing: "Apparently this a luxury room. Must be the window".

A shocked viewer commented: "Prison cells legitimately have more space", and someone else observed, "And they don't cost £140 a week to rent".

The Spare Room listing reads: "Two luxury rooms in Canada Water.

"The room is big and bright, nice and clean bathroom, fully equipped kitchen".

A Reddit user commented: "There's a place to stand up and everything! You can also probably do some quality crying under that bed."

Someone else pointed out that for London this isn't very expensive.

They wrote: "I saw this and immediately thought 'oh that's quite cheap'...I've lived in London too long".

Another user agreed, writing: "Window, walls and doors, from some of the ads we have all seen that is a luxury room."
