Body of five-year-old who went missing on holiday is found in Spanish reservoir
SPANISH police last night said they have found the body of a five-year-old German tourist in a reservoir.
The boy, who was apparently on holiday with his mother, went missing last Tuesday.
Police say the woman, who is in a city hospital, reported the disappearance of the child when she was found in a distraught state at a petrol station on Tuesday.
Although police released pictures of both the mother and child on Thursday, they did not formally name either, and identified her only as 'Tanja K'.
The boy's father and other relatives had flown from Germany to join in the search.
The case is sure to revive memories of Madeleine McCann who disappeared three years ago, while on holiday with her parents and twin siblings in the Algarve region of Portugal.
The British girl went missing from an apartment, in the central area of the resort of Praia da Luz, a few days before her fourth birthday,
A civil guard spokesman in the city of Cordoba, southern Spain, said on Thursday night that the child's body was found by police searching a zone outside the nearby town of Espiel.
He said police believe the child may be the German woman's son but that the body has yet to be definitively identified.
The police official spoke on condition of anonymity.
