A homeless drug addict accused of murdering a British grandmother and running down the street with her severed head told a court how voices in his head told him he was "an angel of Jesus Christ".
The trial of Deyan Deyanov (29), a Bulgarian, has begun on the island of Tenerife, where Jennifer Mills-Westley (60) was killed and decapitated in an attack at a supermarket in May 2011.
A jury of nine were shown "very tough" CCTV film of the attack inside the general store in the resort of Los Cristianos, where Mrs Mills-Westley, from Norwich, had a holiday home.
Deyanov claimed to have no recollection of the events of that day. He said he was haunted by voices which told him how to act.
