BEING abandoned in a carrier bag, in a city park, is not the best start in life but this little infant is "alert happy, and contented".
Despite her ordeal, doctors said that she was recovering well. West Midlands police in England have released her picture in an effort to trace her mother.
She has been named Jade by hospital staff, after the dog walker who found her in a community park on Thursday afternoon.
The baby, pictured left, who weighs 6lb, was taken to hospital after she was found wrapped in a blanket in a carrier bag in a park off Stuarts Road in the Stechford area of Birmingham.
Birmingham East Chief Inspector Ian Green said: "It is fantastic news that baby Jade is recovering well in hospital. I'm told she's very alert and a contented, happy baby.
"She's doing well and should make a full recovery over the next couple of days – but of course what she really needs is to be in her mother's arms."
Officers were continuing to make house-to-house inquiries around the park where the baby was found.
