The ' EastEnders' veteran is back in Walford after actress June Brown, who has played her since 1985, began a sabbatical in the spring of last year. Brown (85) has taken a break before, leaving for a four-year period in the 1990s.
'Death clock' unveiled
Bangladesh unveiled a 'Death Clock' in its capital to raise awareness about smoking-related deaths in a country that ranks among the world's highest in tobacco consumption.
Around 57,000 people die annually from tobacco-related diseases in Bangladesh, on average 156 people per day, said Sayed Badrul Karim from Progga, an NGO supporting the anti-tobacco campaign.
Cookbooks off menu
Almost half of the glossy new cookbooks bought as Christmas presents go unread, according to a survey that shows home cooks are being put off by expensive ingredients and complicated recipes.
Researchers discovered the typical British adult owns 10 cookbooks, but on average four of them will never have been used. They also discovered cooks are going online more and more to find the right recipes.
Boost for ladies in red
Women feel more confident at work if they wear red, according to new research. A study of more than 1,000 women by the British Heart Foundation found that almost two-fifths believed wearing something red gave them increased confidence.
The report also found that clothes which women hated seeing colleagues wear included miniskirts, low-cut tops and hot pants.
Beer gone to the dogs
A US brewery worker who loves dogs has developed a special beer for them. Daniel Keeton of Bend's Boneyard Brewery in Oregon calls his creation Dawg Grog. It is alcohol-free and ingredients include vegetable broth and spent grain.
He says his dog, Lola Jane, licks her bowl clean of it.
Bullock 'stalker' ban
Sandra Bullock has obtained a temporary restraining order against a man accused of stalking her since 2003.
The Oscar-winning actress's lawyer obtained the protective order on her behalf against Thomas James Weldon, who has been the subject of previous court orders to stay away from the 45-year-old.
