Retired archbishop Desmond Tutu has returned home after a week-long stay in hospital in Cape Town.
The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation said Tutu returned home today wearing a dressing gown embroidered with the words "Feet Up Arch", and is now under doctors' orders to rest.
It added that the Tutu family had thanked doctors for their work and the public for their support.
The 83-year-old Nobel laureate was admitted to hospital last week where he received treatment for a "stubborn infection".
An earlier statement said he was treated with a course of intensive antibiotics administered intravenously.
Tutu's daughter Mpho Tutu said her father's treatment was not related to his prostate cancer, which he has had for 18 years and is currently dormant.
