Cleaner finds €25,000 Rolex
A street cleaner struck gold when he found a Rolex watch down a drain.
The 28-year-old was cleaning a drain in Essex, England, when he found the 18-carat-gold Rolex worth £21,000 (€25,100). The worker handed the watch in at his nearest police station. If it is not claimed within 30 days, he will be allowed to keep it.
Pond-rescue dog attacks presenter
A TV presenter was bitten in the face by a dog during a live broadcast and needed 70 stitches in her lips and nose.
Kyle Dyer of Denver's KUSA-TV was hurt while doing an on-air segment with the dog's owner and a firefighter who had rescued the Argentine Mastiff from an icy pond. She was patting the dog's head when it bit her.
Golden Collar for four-legged stars
Dog actors can now get recognition in Tinseltown, and five of them collected prizes at the inaugural Golden Collar Awards.
The ceremony ran like a traditional, Hollywood-style awards show. Uggie, the four-legged star of 'The Artist', was named top dog in a movie. His owner-trainer, Omar Von Muller, was on hand to accept the award.
Rogers sues over song royalties
Kenny Rogers is suing Capitol Records, claiming the company has not properly paid him for digital downloads, ringtones and other uses of his songs.
Mr Rogers filed the lawsuit on Monday in federal court in Nashville. He seeks a declaration that under his contract he is owed 50pc of net royalties for the licensing of his master recordings to third-parties like iTunes. Mr Rogers claims the company owes him at least $400,000 (€305,000), although he does not know the total amount because Capitol has withheld some financial records. Capitol did not comment.
Flag man fined for mooning at queen
A Sydney man has been fined €610 for mooning at Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip during their royal visit to Australia. Barman Liam Warriner was sentenced in Brisbane for creating a public nuisance for baring his behind at the royal couple.
He had earlier admitted running, as the royal motorcade drove past well-wishers, with an Australian flag clenched between his cheeks. It is not clear whether the queen and Prince Philip saw him. An unrepentant Mr Warriner said outside court that he would do the same thing to "any self-important, self-propagating elitist".
