Chloe Campbell was found missing from her home in Childers, Queensland, on Thursday morning but 42 hours later “wandered home”, according to reports in Australia.
She was found by police close to the family home and was taken to hospital for a check-up as the massive search operation launched to find her was called to a halt. Her mother, Tammy, was taken to meet her at the hospital and was described as overjoyed.
Chloe was discovered missing on Thursday morning, local time, and a window of the room she was sharing with two siblings was found open. Her father, Garth, told reporters a footprint had been found on the roof of a vehicle parked underneath the window.
Her re-appearance came after security footage was found of two men and a young child close to the family home shortly after midnight on Thursday.
Before Chloe turned up alive her mother had described the disappearance as “a nightmare I can’t wake up from” and added: “All I’ve got at the moment is hope.”
